My 9th Grade Self

As an “August” student, I have set some goals for myself. These goals are ambitious, and I have high hopes that I would fulfill them. I have outlined some strategies that I would utilize in order to succeed in 9th grade, and high school in general. A goal for me is to improve my math skills. My strategy is to take Honors Geometry, which requires a higher understanding of the content that we are learning. A concern that I have is the portfolios; I want this year’s portfolio to be appealing, as I had some trouble with that earlier. I am also doing Kumon, which is a program for higher math. I am on course to the Honors Program (for Kumon), which would mean that I would do math that is 4 - 5 years ahead of my grade. I hope to learn Calculus, which can help me understand more about how Geometry works. I can then apply this to the Geometry at school. My 9th grade goal is to get straight A’s, and have multiple achievements outside of school to accompany them. This page will reflect upon my 9th grade year.

My Greatest Growth in the 9th grade

I grew the most in Engineering Science this year. This course focused on CAD modeling, and I will reflect upon the process in the reflection. Please click the picture on the left to access the reflection.

Struggling in Analyzing Literature

Analyzing Literature was a struggle for me this year. We analyzed many different types of literature. We read the likes of "Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde".  Please click on the picture on the left to access the reflection.

My Excellence in Learning Chinese

Learning a new language seems hard. However, if you do it with a passion, you are more likely to excel in learning it. We did a Rap Project this year, which turned out to be a great way to learn Chinese. Please click on the picture on the left to access the reflection (and the Rap Project)

Why I am Ready for 10th Grade

Comparing myself to the “August” me, I feel mature. I used creativity this year to become ready for the 10th grade. I was able to make some projects that were outstanding. For these projects to be noticeable,  I had to use my creativity to create something meaningful. I feel prepared for the 10th grade because I have bettered myself through the 9th grade. The 9th grade has been stressful days and even more endless nights, but I knew that I was working towards becoming a 10th grader, and beyond. I spent many nights working on the Literary Analysis, hoping that it wouldn't be a struggle anymore. My CAD skills have impressed others; when I tell people unfamiliar with DRSS that we learn to use 3D printers, they are astonished. The Rap Project is also a funny video to show to friends outside of school. I hope to keep telling them more things about this school, as the 10th grade will bring even more projects. In the 10th grade I want to advance in the AMC 10, a math competition. I also hope to keep straight A's in the 10th grade.
